5 Ways To Inspire Others

You might not be aware of it but others are watching you and you are providing inspiration and motivating others just by being you and doing the things that you do every day. Things that you probably even take for granted.

It’s true, we all have fans and those whom we set an example for in life. It could be our coworkers, friends, family, our children, and sometimes… even strangers who see how we carry on through our day-to-day life.

Just as we all have people in our lives that inspire us, we are also inspiring in the lives of others.

If you don’t believe me, here are 5 things you probably do to inspire others that you might not even realize:

  1. Being your authentic and true self. – There is nothing more inspiring than seeing someone living on his or her own terms and not on someone else’s. It takes great courage to be an individual these days. By fearlessly being your true and authentic self, you inspire others to do the same and that is what we need in this world, more people who are themselves rather than people trying to be what they think they should be in order to fit in.
  2. Doing what you love! – As much as it is inspiring to see people march to their own drummer it is even more inspiring to see people who are fully engaged and doing what they love to do in life, whatever that might be. Of course when you see people lovingly engaged in their profession or a cause of their choice while making a living at the same time, it makes you wonder why you can not do it yourself. Life is too short to waste it trying to be someone that you are not and it is also way too short to spend all of it doing things that you do not love or not passionate about. So do what you love while you can!
  3. Sharing your failures as much as your successes. – It is easy to tell the tales of our successes in life in an effort to build up our images in front of other people. However, it takes great courage to share the not so glamorous parts of our lives as well, our failures. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Be willing to share your failures as well as your successes because when you do that, others can relate to you. They’ll understand that they’re not the only ones with challenges, and by them knowing that you were able to overcome your challenges, it will inspire them and encourage them to overcome theirs.
  4. Leading by example. – Just because you turn around and don’t see anyone trailing right behind you does not mean that you are not a leader. You never know who is quietly following your example. Always speak and act with integrity, do what you say and say what you do. They say that integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching, but I believe that there is always someone watching and when they see us do the right thing for the right reasons, it inspires them to do the same.
  5. Genuinely caring about people. – People are inspired when they know that others care about them. Inspire others to do their best and support them when they can’t. Make it a point to go out of your way to personally acknowledge and complement those who go out of their way to excel at something. And listen to people, make them feel important, and inspire them by showing them that they are indeed important.

In the end, there are probably countless ways that you inspire others that you are not even aware of. And if it is your goal to be inspiring, everything that you need to inspire those around you, you already possess. So go ahead, get out there and start inspiring people with who you are and how you live your life.
