Beat The Monday-Morning Mood!

How do you handle the Monday-morning mood? Is your Monday that bad or do you just go along with everyone else in assuming that it just sucks? That is the first step for dealing Monday mornings. Set your own belief about it instead of assuming the belief and emotions that everyone else expresses about the day. You can choose to make Monday the best day of the week if you wish to do so. Really, you can. (Okay, Monday may never be as GREAT as Friday but it can be darn close!)

Embrace Monday as a new start! And who doesn’t like having fresh starts? Last week is done, and it might have been a tough one or you might not have accomplished all that you set out to do. Go into Monday with the idea that it is a fresh and clean slate to start over. That is the most exciting thing about Monday; it happens every week and if you choose to see it as a fresh start instead of some dark and deep hole of negativity like the rest of the world, you will begin your week with a positive mindset and with some momentum. Monday is the doorway to endless possibilities, not some gaping crevasse that you need to put yourself into week after week just to waste energy trying to claw out from.

If Monday is truly such a loathsome day for you, it could also be a clue that you need to make some changes in your life. If you’re dreading Mondays no matter what, then it may be time to switch careers and find a new job. In other words, you problem isn’t with the day Monday itself, but with what you have to do, or where you have to go on Mondays instead.

Take the time on Sunday to set up your Monday ahead of time. Wind things down early on Sunday evenings, plan you week out, get adequate sleep Sunday night instead of attempting to wring life out of the last few hours of your weekend. Lay out the Monday morning outfit and pack a good lunch the night before or plan where you might go for lunch as something to look forward to. Taking steps to eliminate as much stress as possible on Monday morning ahead of time will make the morning that much more pleasant and tolerable. Make sure you alarm is set, and maybe even a bit earlier than usual to give yourself plenty of time in the morning to avoid starting the week stressed out about being late, or to prevent being late and having that set the tone of the week for you.

Start controlling your own thoughts when it comes to Mondays in your own mind. Don’t allow the Monday-morning mood to own you and don’t allow Mondays to be something that you fear. The more attached you are to that idea or belief, the worse Mondays will affect you.

Try some of these tips and see how it will help you tackle your Mondays and make them better for you.
