Don’t Fear Starting Over

Sometimes life throws you a curve-ball that derails your plans and schemes altogether. Maybe you realize that your life is not exactly where you wanted it to be. If either situation requires you to begin again from the beginning, it’s okay… don’t fear starting over.

Right now I am facing two things in life where I have to start over from scratch pretty much. First there is running. After my race this past weekend and all of the focus and training going into it, an then actually racing the thing, I am left in a position where it feels like I am starting all over again. For instance this morning at the track I WALKED the first mile to warm-up, and that’s okay – It’s called starting over…

Secondly, there is this blog. After writing for so many consecutive days, I missed Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. One day was for my race and the other for work. With my streak no longer intact, I am forced to start over and to keep at it to reach my writing goals for the year.

Even if you have just overcome some great life event, don’t fear starting over because truly, if things had been going so great in one direction, the chance are that things would have continued going that way. More often than not when we are forced to start over, the truth, rather we want to believe it or not, is that probably in many ways starting over is exactly what was needed.

When you have to start over it gives you a chance to do things right, or better, or even take your life in a completely new direction. It is truly an opportunity of sorts to discover who you are, what you want, and to redefine your dreams and your goals.

Starting over also gives you time to come up with a plan. It gives you time to visualize a new future for yourself. It is a chance to decide what you want to change in your life and to start taking steps in that direction. As you plan, don’t forget to add things that would make you happy and that you would enjoy doing.

Don’t fear starting over. It can be one of the greatest things in life. An opportunity to get out there and make things right this time and the way that you want them this time around.  Staring over can give you a new chance at anything, you want to do in life.

Starting over again is one of the toughest things a person might ever do, regardless of what it is they are starting over, but most of us, at one point in our lives, have to do exactly that. Whether it’s the loss of a relationship, a job, a career, or maybe you just need to revise and refresh your goals in life, accept starting over as just part of the process of life and then do it.
