Eliminate All Limiting Beliefs

Do you have difficulty in seeing a bright future ahead of you? Do you have limiting beliefs that dictate what you can and cannot do? Are you afraid of expecting positive things in your life based on past events, hurts, or disappointments?

I have a nifty way to illustrate how our brains work, 24×7, 365 days of the year, and how you can utilize that knowledge to leapfrog over past blockages and create the life of your dreams.

The first thing to do is to grab a scrap sheet of paper. What I want to do is show you how our brains work and I can explain it all very simply.

Here are the steps:

  1. Draw a figure eight lying down on it’s side. Draw it horizontally side to side on the paper. It will look like an infinity symbol. This is just so you understand the basics of how the mind works. This is not a strange system but an understanding of how we really work.  You don’t have to make it huge but enough to cover most of the sheet.
  1. Start tracing over the figure eight and keep tracing over it… the crossover point in the middle represents the now or the present. The loop to the right represents the future. The loop to the left represents the past. Keep tracing over the figure eight over and over.  Our brain is doing this loop all the time. The frontal lobes of our brains are designed that way. That is the frontal lobes job. It’s job is to think about what we are going to do next week, what is for dinner tonight, when am I going to go on vacation, etc. That frontal lobe is constantly thinking about the future. Then we come back to the present and see what is going on in the present and then what we do is we go back to the past… I had that fight with… I am angry about… I got that bill… and so on.
  1. In the loop in the past, mark it up with a bunch of X’s and O’s and fill that space as much as you can. Those represent your past experiences. Some have been happy, amazing, and wonderful times, others have been painful and limiting. We use that past as our database. That database of the past is the controlling point for most people in their lives. Whenever we react to something, it is because of past data. Our brain is doing this loop out into the future back to the present moment, back to the past, back to the present moment then back out into the future again. It is a continuous cycle that happens all of the time, regardless if we realize it or not.
  1. What I want you to do now for this demonstration is I want you to see how the past affects us and affects our lives. From one of the X’s or O’s draw a line up and down, a perpendicular line. Feel free to make it large and going outside the perimeter of the figure eight portion of the past. What happens is those painful difficult experiences blocks us from connecting with our future. Think of that perpendicular line as a wall. Basically what it does is it casts out a filter in front of us so that we can not see the future or perhaps the future is colored.


Because of these filters, we cannot see particular futures or the future that we would like to have for ourselves. When we realize that we have things in our past that happened to us that we have not resolved, then we can begin to see that they do not necessarily dictate what the future will be. Once that limiting belief is identified then it is up to you to choose whether you want that to be your truth. Or at a minimum, make the decision that will not have any more power in your future visioning.

Think about the Wright brothers… they did not care there was a filter that said that people could not fly. People laughed at them. They saw a future where people flew in airplanes and holding that vision, they were able to create an airplane because they held to their vision.

When you decide and you hold a vision and you see yourself doing something in the future and you don’t have the filters of the past telling you that you can’t… then the people, the situations, the circumstances, and whatever resources you need to create your vision will be come available to you.

Create and dream your future first. Disregard the past and the filters. The past is fiction anyway.
