get unstuck nowMy mission statement is simply this, “To help people get unstuck.” However, sometimes even Life Coaches get (or feel) stuck, including me as that is how I have felt lately. But with these tips you can get unstuck now just as I have doing for myself.

Get Unstuck Now

You can read more about being stuck here but there are basically two main reasons that you are stuck or may be feeling stuck in life. First is that you really are not stuck, you just feel stuck and because you feel that way you choose to believe that you are indeed stuck.

Secondly, and biggest reason that you may be stuck (or feeling it) is that you are fearful and will not commit to making a decision and choosing a course of action. So the quickest way to get unstuck now is to man or woman up and make decision and move forward because when you make a decision you DO change your future.

But sometimes it is not necessarily fear that prevents us from making a decision but instead it is that we lack enough information to make a decision or to choose a path and that is what this article is about, how you can get unstuck now by gathering more information from yourself.

Sometimes we are so caught up in the business of living that we forget to check in with ourselves as to what it is that we really want in life. You might currently be where you wanted to be in the past yet it is not where you want to be in the present and more importantly, it is not where you want to be in the future. In this instance, feeling stuck is a sign that it is time to make a change and a sign that the way you are doing things is no longer working.

Here are five steps to help you to move past where you are, to get unstuck now and to get you moving forward again.

  1. Isolate yourself in a quiet spot without any distractions. No computers, turn off your cell phone, clear the room, and shut the door. Make some space and time for you to sit and think clearly without any external influence or noise.
  2. Grab a notebook or a piece of paper and start writing out the things that you want in life. Your goals, your dreams, your ambitions, all of it… whatever it is that you want in life start writing it down.
  3. Don’t limit yourself necessarily to “reality” or what you think is possible or not… write out huge goals, but also don’t forget to write out the little things too that might even seem insignificant. This is your time to get clear with yourself and to have an honest internal dialogue with yourself about everything in life which is something that you probably have not done in awhile otherwise you wouldn’t be feeling so stuck to begin with.
  4. Keep writing… if you find yourself taking pauses now an again be patient with yourself but stick to the process. You will know when you are done. When you are done, close your notebook or tuck away your piece of paper to review the next day. It is best to do this to let everything sort of settle down in your mind after all of the activity that you just put it through.
  5. The next day, review your list, look at everything that you wrote down, and ask yourself which of these items will make the greatest difference in your life. Which of these items are doable and doable now? Then choose those that speak to you, to your interests, to your passions, to your goals in life and set a plan to go after them.

The point of this exercise is to help you to get unstuck now and not to just create some huge and outlandish to-do list or a dreamy bucket list. It is simply to open up your mind to the idea that anything is possible, and to give you ideas that will help you to become unstuck in life.

When I did this exercise earlier this week I discovered some new things that I would like to pursue but more importantly it illuminated some older things that I have not been as focused on as I wanted to be. It re-motivated me to take more action in some areas that I have been neglecting as well as make new and grander plans for the future and because of that, that nagging feeling that I had went away completely.

It helped me and I certainly hope that it helps you if you are feeling stuck and want to get unstuck now and to live the most rewarding life possible.
