Hoping Versus Taking Action

hoping versus taking actionThe difference between hoping versus taking action is huge, and because of that I have a new favorite question that I like to ask clients. “Have you decided to take action or are you just hoping you will?”

In life, we are either focused on and working towards specific results or outcomes or we are just hoping that things might just work out in the end.

But when it comes to life, here is the deal… you are either an active participant, making your life happen or you are just letting it happen. You are either the driver or the passenger…

You can be the boxer or the punching bag… your choice.

Hoping Versus Taking Action

In your professional life, are you advancing, learning new skills and “getting ahead” or you are just tolerating your employment, if you don’t outright hate it, and just waiting for that next paycheck.? Are you hoping what you will get that promotion or are you taking action to make sure that it happens?

Are you hoping that by summer you will be able to fit into last year’s swimsuit or are you watching what you eat and looking after your health and fitness to ensure it will happen? Are you a victim who blames his or her weight on genetics, or being “big boned” while hoping things such as heart disease, and diabetes will not affect you even though the statistics indicate otherwise? Are you hoping versus taking action when it comes to your health and longevity of life?

What about your relationship with your partner; are you idly coasting along hoping that all of the unresolved issues that have been swept under the rug for years will just magically sort themselves out? Or are you actively working daily to enhance your relationship by investing in it with your time and attention? Are you hoping that you and your partner just magically stay connected and together; or are you taking the actions needed to make that happen?

In whatever it is… have you decided to take action or are you just hoping you will?

Sure… some, maybe many of life’s problems can be solved by sitting back and letting things take care of themselves… sometimes. But more often than not you are the one who is either making things happen or you are just letting things happen.

Hoping versus taking action – there is a difference… You row your own boat or you allow the currents to carry you away. You conquer your circumstances or you allow yourself to fall victim to them. You make an impact in the world or you are the one who is impacted…

Remember… you are the only one who can change your life and you are the ONLY one that you want to change your life as well.
