It Might Not Be Easy But It Will Be Worth It

It Might Not Be Easy But It Will Be Worth ItMost things in life worth creating or having come with some trade-offs involved. As for me, I have always gone by the “harder the struggle the sweeter the success” rule. Or… “if it isn’t challenging… then you probably aren’t doing it right.”

Trust me… I like shortcuts and always prefer the easiest and quickest way between points A and points B. But unfortunately fortunately I haven’t found too many of those in life. Actually what I have discovered is the quite the opposite and that is it typically takes me twice the time and twice the effort to achieve most things I set out to do.

I just tell myself that it might not be easy but it will be worth it.

The challenging road to achievement or success is often long and it has to be in order to accumulate smaller successes and to build a base of success along the way. As with any building that it built, the stronger or more structurally sound the foundation is the stronger the entire building will probably be. There’s a reason the roof isn’t built first!

Another example..  person could sit down and hack out a book and it might do very well, top of the bestsellers list and so on. That could be a success right? Well, maybe…  but what if that book was a fluke, a one trick pony and they could never write a follow-up?

But consider on the other hand the writer that toils for years writing book after book with little to no notice but then writes a bestseller also. And unlike our first author, this one learned through his struggles and challenges, and then writes book after book after book which continues to sell well.

Which do you consider the larger success or who has the potential for greater success?

If you were in the woods, which would you rather have… a fire that lit instantly but quickly burned out or one that took some time to build and nurture but then lasted all night. Same thing…

Living and life might not be easy but it will be worth it as the struggles only serve to make you stronger and the setbacks you encounter make you resilient. If it’s challenging then you are probably on the right track but if you are just coasting through life, then perhaps you are wasting time and not pushing yourself as hard as you should.

Just because you got something “right” once or the first time doesn’t mean that you learned or mastered it. Prepare yourself to always devote much time, energy, and sometimes even money to achieve or succeed at whatever it is you want to do and just know that it might not be easy but it will be worth it!
