Life Is Too Short

lifeisshortYour life is short and it is getting shorter every day. The best thing to do is to enjoy it anyway that you can.

We always think that we will live forever. We spend our time and money as if we will always be here. Worse… we spend our time and money in the constant pursuit of things that we think matter but in the end don’t.

Another huge mistake is all of the things that we put off to the future like the trips we never get around to taking and keep delaying. What about the job or career risks we fear and do not take even if we are miserable in our current situations? We don’t step out of our comfort zones due to fear of failure or ridicule.

We don’t tell our loved ones we love them enough. We trick ourselves into believing that both we and them will be around another day or another year. This is the worst assumption of all.

There was a line in the television show True Detective that I really liked, “Life’s barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you get good at.” I take this to mean that you should good at something you love instead of something that you don’t. Regardless it is another example of just how short life can be.

I came to a point in my life some years ago where I was involved in an endeavor that I knew in my heart was a losing proposition. I remember sitting in the park one day thinking/knowing that there could not be a good ending but I was also determined to see everything through. I was determined because I knew that if I didn’t I would always know that I gave up.

After some long thought it occurred to me that in the end, I would be the only one on MY deathbed! Not anyone else… and I would only have myself to answer to if I did not at least stay the course. It was definitely one those situations where I was destined to lose yet gain a great lesson in the end. Life is short… take the risks even if the odds are not in your favor.

Focus on enjoying your life. Quit being uptight about always being in the right and stop being hung-up on if you could be wrong. Worry less about what other people think of you because they are not living your life, you are.

Get on with your life and enjoy it! You don’t have much time left!
