Life’s Perfect Moments

life's perfect momentsYou can be happy and life can be “good” but certain exquisite perfect moments in life are still rare and precious. When you have one of those moments appreciate it for what it is and be grateful.

It is the type of moment where as I said, everything is just perfect or as I described to one of my best friends once, “my little moments of death.” What I mean is that in that moment, everything in life feels so complete, wonderful, and magical, that if I were to leave this earthly plane, I could go in peace. It sounds a little morbid, but I don’t mean it to be. Trust me; I still plan to be here a very long time yet!

This summer I was at a race but it was a day that I was not racing. I was standing on a hill above the start in Leadville, Colorado. To the west, I could see the mountains with the full moon setting above them and the sun was rising behind me to east. The air was calm, and while the National Anthem was being played before the race, my heart just swelled. I felt great, life was good, and all was perfect. For me, that was one of those perfect moments, where I was completely in the moment, that I will carry with me and remember forever.

You don’t have to be standing on a mountain or anywhere special either for those moments to occur. It can happen in your car in a traffic jam… anytime where you feel that everything is okay and everything will be okay. Some might call it a moment of clarity even.

I tend to believe that these are the moments when we are completely present in the now, and our inner-world is in complete alignment with the outer-world. There is a sublime sensation of overall “wellness” with everything… past, present, and the future.

These are the moments when you know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be in life. Moments such as this are without doubt, regrets, or fears. You understand that every twist and turn in life, both good and bad, got you to exactly where you are and it has all worked out. On top of that comes the unshakable belief, faith, and knowing that it WILL all work out.

I hope that you know what I am talking about and I hope that you have had many of these types of perfect moments yourself. I don’t know how many of these types of moments we get in life but I value each one as special and precious. The funny thing is that you never really know when they are going to happen either, and that is the neat part about them.

Look for those perfect moments in your life and even seek them out. Notice them for what they are and appreciate them. In time you will not recall 90% of the things that you do in life, but these types of perfect moments stay with you forever. Because after all, that is what life truly is…  a collection of little, priceless moments.
