Stop Complaining!

stop complaningOnce upon a time, I was a chronic-complainer. Actually, to be truthful I probably wasn’t happy unless I had something to complain about, and if there actually wasn’t anything to complain about, I would probably make something up!

Any problem that existed I made it my own. My problems, your problems, the world’s problems; I loved problems as they provided a constant source of things to whine and complain over.

For me… complaining was living. Crazy, right? It was as if I always had to have something wrong, or some problem to complain about in order to feel as if my existence had any meaning or purpose.

Do you know what I got for all of that complaining? Well, if you believe in the Law Of Attraction, for starters I got a lot more stuff to complain about. At a minimum, I certainly was not that happy. A life of complaining really is not that much fun… trust me.

So what do you do? You stop complaining!

To be honest, I cannot tell you exactly who it was a very long time ago who told me not to tell them what was wrong, but to tell them how to fix it instead. That was probably my first clue in life to stop complaining so much and to look for solutions instead of focusing on the problems.

We all complain about things from time to time, we have to in order to deal with things and it is normal to get things off our chests. What is not normal is to make a lifestyle out of it and to be a constant complainer about EVERYTHING.

When you complain, you are focused on what is wrong instead of what is right.

When you complain, you are focused on the past, or fears for the future as opposed to living in the present moment (which is always usually perfect it its own way.)

When you complain, you strip away your own power to make decisions and to take action to CHANGE whatever it is that you are complaining about and make things better.

When you complain, not only do you make yourself miserable, but you are probably annoying everyone around you as well and giving him or her something to complain about also!

Complaining doesn’t get anyone anywhere, so stop complaining! Complaining subtracts from all of the things that is good in our lives so turn it around.

By practicing a grateful attitude, and creating a more positive outlook on life, you can drop the habit of complaining and greatly improve your attitude. If you do that, it might improve the outlook of everyone around you too. Imagine that!

A quote with ambiguous origins says:

“You can complain because rose bushes have thorns or rejoice that thorn bushes have roses. It’s all how you look at it.” – J. Kenfield Morley

Think of your life as a rose bush. Which do you choose to focus on, the thorns or the roses?

It it is the thorns… then stop complaining!
