Stop Waiting And Start Doing

Stop Waiting And Start DoingMany people spend a lot of time just waiting to become whatever it is they want to be. They are waiting to become a writer, or to start their own business, or maybe even take that long trip overseas that they have been putting off. The problem is that waiting will never get you anywhere. You have to stop waiting and start doing!

Stop Waiting And Start Doing

It is good to have dreams and aspirations but there comes a time where you have to stop waiting and start doing. Period

Most of us want to wait until we get the perfect education or training. Or maybe we want to wait until we have practiced a particular skill to become an expert. And while it is true that repetition is the key to success the reality is that you will not truly become an expert until you being doing what it is that you want to do.

Whatever it is that you want to do, go ahead and get busy doing it. If you want to be a writer then start writing. If you want to be an actor or a musician then find an audience to get up in front of to entertain. If you want to be an artist, then paint.

The more that you do a thing, the more it will become a part of your identity. Even with starting my coaching business, I had to start doing it, actually coaching REAL people. I had to start finding clients and actually coaching them. It wasn’t until then that my identity and how I saw myself shifted dramatically from someone who was starting a coaching business to owning exactly what I was doing and being able to tell people confidently, “I am a life coach!”

I had to stop waiting to become it – I actually had to start doing it, and when I did, my confidence also shifted and supported me more and more as I accumulated even more experience.

Don’t just wait to be something, just be it. Don’t say “someday” say “today” and start today.

The more you do anything, the better you will be, and the more confident you will become. And with greater confidence, people WILL notice you, and in turn you will find even more opportunities to practice your art and craft.

Once you start you will also notice a funny thing and ask yourself, “Why didn’t I start sooner?” Because usually once you start, most things seem ridiculously easy, or at least, significantly less scary than they were in the beginning.

What do you need to stop dreaming/scheming/talking about and just start doing in your life? What are you waiting for?
