The Next Step

the next stepYesterday I was thinking that life is really just a series of experiments, and experiments always have steps to them. You try something and it works or not, then you take the next step, and so on.

If an experiment works, you move forward, if it doesn’t, then you learn, try something different and if that works, you still move forward.

For me, December has always been a time to circle the wagons and begin preparing for the next year. I look at everything that I have done, the things that worked or didn’t work the past year, and then start modeling the next year based on those results. It is a study of both the steps taken and the next step or steps after those.

My time this past year has been busy with either working with clients or working on building the business and making it so other potential clients can find me. Working with people and helping them is nothing new for me but building a business… marketing and promotion of what I do is still foreign and new to me. I am STILL learning a completely new skill set to master.

Tri Peaks Life Coaching still is not where I want it to be BUT it is light years ahead of where it was this time last year. I have tripled my number of clients and the Blog has resulted in some seriously positive press for the business and me. Even though I have experienced success, I still have a way to go and the constant question is, “what is the next step?” What do I have to do or be doing to keep moving forward?

It is all about building momentum. Once I make a call that I am intimidated to make or do something else that is beyond my comfort zone then it is not as daunting anymore. Every difficult step (the easy ones too) only leads me closer to my goals. Every difficult task I complete seems to multiply my momentum.

Some days are comprised of a single baby step, while other days my steps are actually giant leaps and bounds. Regardless of the steps of a particular day, as long as I am doing something everyday to propel me in the direction that I want to go, or where I dream of being, it is okay, just as long as I took the next step – regardless of its size or impact.

Always take the next step. If it does not get you to the finish line that you have envisioned for yourself, then take another. Never end the day with a failure. Commit to taking the next step to build your momentum for tomorrow.

The road to success and goal achievement can be a long and tiring journey. When it gets tough just ask yourself what you can do to keep going. Just take the next step, put one foot in front of the other until you get there.

Life rewards action and you don’t get to enjoy the journey when you’re tied up in fear. What is the next step that you are willing to take to get you to where you want to go?
