Time Waits For No One

time waits for no oneTime waits for no one; it is the universal leveler because the rich and powerful have no more of it than the poor and indigent. You cannot buy time, you cannot “save” or bank time. Once it is gone, it is gone forever.

Life does not wait for you to “get back on your feet” when you are knocked down. There are no time-outs. Time and life keeps marching on…. All that you can do is to make the best use of the time you have while you have it.

Time Waits For No One

Times waits for no one and here are some useful tips for making the best of your time:

Prioritize your life and make sure that you take care of the important things, the things that are truly important. Keep a to-do list of things that are important or urgent or both and be able to differentiate between what is and what is not a valuable use of time.

Think ahead and plan; effective planning enables you to make the most effective use of your time. Set aside or eliminate nonessential tasks, which do little more than consume time and energy. If you find that you have some free time on your hands because you are all caught up, why not move on to another project in order to keep ahead?

Learn to say no to things that are unimportant or that do little more than consume time or are just things that you would rather not do if not needed. Our lives are often too busy with too many activities and appointments that only serve to add more stress and tension than we need. Simplify your life.

Avoid time stealers such as procrastination and indecision. Procrastination is a thief of both time and productivity. There is never the perfect time really to do something and if you are always waiting for the perfect time… quite possibly, nothing will ever be accomplished. It is the same with indecision… you may never have all of the information you may need or want to move forward as there will always be some uncertainty in life. It is good to evaluate each step in life but the reality is that most decisions do involve some risk and some uncertainties.

Finally, ditch your expectations of perfection. If you are waiting until you are perfect to do something or that the execution of something is perfect, you may be waiting for a very long time. Remember… perfection is a product of progress and not the other way around. Always choose progress over perfection in the pursuit of your dreams and don’t sweat the thought of making mistakes along the way. The real thing to worry about is what the cost is if you do not … the lost time, the lost opportunities…

Time waits for no one so stop waiting on whatever it is that you are waiting for and is holding you back. Everyone gets 24 hours in a day regardless of his or her station in life, so choose wisely as to how you are going to spend yours.

Maybe you know what you need to do next but are afraid to do it… be courageous anyway! Messes and mistakes you can clean up. You can never make up time lost from not taking action.
