The Timing Is Never Perfect

timingisneverperfectThe perfect time to take action or to begin anything just does not exist. There is always an excuse to put off change and the timing excuse is one of the worst ways to talk yourself into procrastination.

When any of the other excuses do not work, you can always blame the timing. Are you ready to change jobs but the timing’s never right? Are you ready to lose some fat and get strong and healthy? Nah, not yet – even though you are barely able to climb a flight of stairs. Maybe the timing will be right after your first heart attack or after the onset of diabetes? The timing excuse can be used in any situation and it is the most popular tool used to resist change.

When is the best time to make a major change in your life? The best answer is when the thought of not changing and staying the same actually makes you sick to your stomach. To imply that now is always the best time to act can be overly simplistic too. You need to be in the mindset to make a change and take action otherwise you won’t finish what you started. In little time, your enthusiasm will disappear and you will fall back to your normal patterns.

When people can no longer use the excuse of perfect timing, they will create situations that are just bad timing. Examples would include overspending when it is unnecessary: like buy a new car, a huge flat-screen TV, or take a super expensive vacation. Once the financial reserves are tapped it will limit their options.

When that happens, you are stuck in your unhappy job or situation since you need the money. Your flexibility is gone and you are unable to take any risks.

Change does not just happen when you think it is a neat idea to do so. You have to make it happen, or it will happen to you.

There just is not a perfect time to begin anything important in life. However, if you pay attention you will notice the indicators that signal you are ready for change and ready to move on towards your goals with a solid mindset.

Before attempting to make any major change in life, ask yourself: what is the worse thing than can happen? If the answer is something that you can deal with, then what is holding you back?

Chances are if you are looking at a major change, you are already living in the worst-case scenario. And if that is the case, then what are you waiting for?
