Was It Really A Bad Day?

was it really a bad dayYesterday the buyer backed out of buying my house and cottage, two clients cancelled on me last minute, and to top it off I have a horrible cold and felt like crud all day. Days like that happen but was it really a bad day?

No, it wasn’t. It was just day like any other day. Not that things like that happen every day, it’s just that those things happened yesterday. When all was said and done yesterday, even if those things did not happen, or happened as they should have, the sum total of the day would have still been equal.

At the end of the day, I still had a roof over my head, food to eat, a family that loves me and I love them, friends, an awesome dog, I live in a wonderful and beautiful place and well, life goes on.

The point is this… it would have been horrible day, or a bad day only to the degree that I would allow it to be. It’s always up to me (and you) to experience each day as we choose to and to not let our perception of the day to become clouded with the events of the day, especially if those events are out of our control.

And even if you allow everything to make it bad day and choose to have a bad day, there is always the day after to start anew. Another day to get it right. You can always choose to leave yesterday’s negativity behind you and not carry it over to the next day otherwise you might set yourself up for TWO bad days when you really don’t need or want to.

Today I still have my cold (I do feel a little better) and I have to be on a TV show in less than a few hours. I have to show up and be and do my best and be “on.” If I choose to drag yesterday behind me, what do you think the result will be? How would I “come off” being on the show? Not so great I imagine…

So when the “crap hits the fan” in your life and the day is less than spectacular, at the end of the day ask yourself, was it really a bad day? Even if it was, then let it go and greet the next day as the new and perfect start for which it is.
