You Are Good Enough!

One challenge many clients face is embracing the idea and the belief that they truly deserve more out of life. Having a client actually grasp that realization during a session elicits a powerful moment not only for the client but also for me as the coach.

If you ever find yourself thinking that you are not good enough for anything, stop immediately and write down an opposing thought that debunks your negativity. Choose to believe what you wrote down instead.

Here are five reminders for when you’re feeling “not good enough”:

  1. Nobody is doing better than you are because nobody can do better than you. YOU are on your own path in this lifetime. Sometimes the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes circumstances with everyone else’s public highlight reel. Forget what everyone else is doing or achieving, and stay in your own lane. Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life.
  2. Where you are right now is exactly where you need to be. Sometimes we avoid experiencing exactly where we are because we have developed a belief, based on our ideals, that “here” is not where we should be, or want to be. The truth is, where you are right now is exactly where you need to be in order to get to where you want to go tomorrow. Try this: Recite the phrase, “I’m in the process of…” and list out exactly what you are in the middle of accomplishing. This can help reassure you that you are on the right path.
  3. You will never achieve anything in life unless you attempt to do it. Make the attempt. Trust me, twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did. Give yourself a chance to try new things.
  4. High quality vision equals a high quality of life. It’s up to you what you visualize and focus on. Choose to focus on what excites you rather than what doesn’t. If you see a possibility, explore it. If you have a dream, live it. Those who are passionate and excited about what they’re doing have an advantage. Be one of these people.
  5. Sometimes your best bet is to give yourself no other choice. I realized a few months ago after focusing on my business full time that I only have a Plan A. There is no Plan B. There are only unwanted consequences. It is amazing what you can achieve when you have no other choice. Ultimately, Plan B might distract you from Plan A. As Yoda said, “Do or do not, there is no try.” Stop fretting.  Quit worrying. Don’t complain. You know what you must do. So do it.

Everyone deals with setbacks, misery, defeat, heartbreak, and loss. And yes, a lot people make going through those types of hardships look easy at times. People like that aren’t born; they develop slowly over time. I can assure you that people look at you, too, and are amazed at how you deal with life. When you think that you are not good enough and compare yourself to others, just remember: You are getting there.
