You Have The Power – So Use It!

I believe that all of us are extremely powerful beings. Some of us learn early how to tap into our personal power and use it to our advantage, while others of us learn later in life just how powerful and capable we are when it comes to doing anything that we set our minds to. You have the power so you might as well use it!

One time, a long time ago, I went to see someone whom I guess you could call a spiritual healer. It was an interesting experience and I learned a lot in the process but one of the things that I remember is her telling me of the enormous power that I possessed and that I had yet to realize or learn how to use. Whenever I find myself in moments of doubt, or weakness, or when I feel especially challenged by life, I like to remember her words and remind myself that I am indeed powerful and I can make things turn out in my favor.

But just as Peter Parker’s (Spiderman’s) uncle Ben told him, “with great power comes great responsibility,” you should always be aware of your own personal power and take responsibility for all that is both good and bad in your life.

It’s easy to blame others and blame the world for our life-situations or for how bad things are but the truth is that only you have full control over your life. Chances are that if life is a mess, your power was probably used to put it that way… it didn’t “just happen.”

But the good news is this… just as you have extreme power to louse things up… you also have the great power to make things better in your life. You and only you can change the things in your life that you are unhappy with and you can do it if you set your mind to it.

I love reading stories of survival. Especially those stories where someone is lost for days or maybe even weeks in the backcountry somewhere with hardly any food, no shelter, and extremely thin odds of ever making it out alive. Of course, those stories are exciting but to me it is the perfect example of what a “powerful mindset” is capable of doing. It can keep you alive even when all of the elements of your environment conspire to do the opposite. If you don’t think that as human beings we don’t have great power, read some stories of survival and you will see exactly what I mean.

That is an extreme example but if we do have the power to “will ourselves to live,” then doesn’t it make sense that the power needed to make our lives happier and more joyful is one, easier to come by, and two, quite available to us at all times?

Seize your power. You have the power – so use it. Use your power to make choices that will ultimately being happiness into your life and propel you towards better circumstances and opportunities. You and you alone have the power to change your own life for the better using your mind and your actions. You have the power… so use it!
